CZ 2075 RAMI: An Ultimate Review

Sharing is caring!

Handguns are the smallest form of firearms available out there. They can pack quite a punch for such a small size. Options like the Colt 1911 and the Glock 17 are popular and have decent sizes but handguns can get a lot smaller. And one company that proves that is the ÄŚeská Zbrojovka aka CZ company, with their CZ 2075. With Czech firearms being among the ten most imported in the USA, it says a lot that such a small weapon like CZ 2075 earned such popularity in the country. What is it about this gun that makes it so respected? Well, this is the main focus of today’s CZ 2075 RAMI review – to learn all about this amazing weapon and what makes it so reliable.

A Brief History of CZ Firearms

A Brief History of CZ Firearms

Česká Zbrojovka, popularly known as CZ, is a firearms manufacturer based in Prague, Czech Republic. The company first entered the spotlight with their popular CZ 75 model handguns. Named after its introductory year of 1975, the CZ 75 handgun is one of the first to make use of the 9mm Parabellum. It was also one of the first high-capacity handguns to feature manual safety. This enabled the handgun to be carried cocked and locked, making it perfect for home defense. It’s also quite reliable, making use of the Browning linkless cam locking system to ensure that it shoots when needed. This model was initially only meant for export and was not sold domestically until 10 years later. Fast forward to the present, CZ produces a myriad of firearms ranging from pistols to high powered rifles and submachine guns. One of which is the CZ 2075 RAMI.

CZ 2075 RAMI Overview

And to start off out handgun reviews, let’s take a look at the CZ 2075 RAMI specs and see what this amazing gun can offer:

The CZ 2075 RAMI was the brainchild of CZ engineers Radek Hauerland and Milan Trkulja and started sales in 2004. It is available in both .40 S&W and 9mm. The “RAMI” designation was derived from the first two letters of the names of its creators. It was originally developed to meet the demands of the US firearms market. Being the country with the highest civilian firearms sales, the US firearms market is highly lucrative. Based on predictions that the demand and popularity for small conceal-carry firearms are growing, CZ set out to create one. The 2075 RAMI’s design was highly derivative of the Colt Z40 from the 1990’s which was a collaboration between Colt and CZ. In fact, being a compact double-action handgun, the RAMI is mostly a downsized Z40. Taking a closer look at the CZ 2075 RAMI, it features an all-metal frame made out of Aluminum alloy and a steel slide. Just like the CZ 75, it has a high quality, hammer-forged steel barrel but in a measly 3 inches. It also has the same Browning linkless cam locking system as its bigger brother which makes it darn reliable. In terms of safety features, it comes with a manual safety so you can carry it cocked and locked. If you don’t prefer to carry around your RAMI this way, you can safely de-cock it manually into half or fully uncocked. The CZ 2075 RAMI is well-equipped and tested in the factory. It comes in a plastic hard case with two magazines – one standard 10-round and another extended 14-round magazine. It also comes with accessories such as a magazine loading tool, cable-type lock, and cleaning tools. Lastly, a printout of the test target the gun was test-shot at is included in the box.

Shooting Performance

While making our CZ 2075 RAMI 9mm review we noticed that for such a compact handgun, the CZ 2075 RAMI shoots rather well and comfortably at that. Being on the wider end for a compact pistol, it is easy to grip while shooting. Even though you can barely put two fingers on the grip especially if you have big hands, the purchase was good. This is all thanks to a small lip at the bottom of the magazine that secured your ring finger. You’ll have no trouble having a steady hold even with your pinky secured to nothing. If this is not enough, choosing to go with the 14-round magazine helps greatly as it extends the grip. This gives the CZ 2075 RAMI a grip that’s as long as normal-sized handguns. In terms of 9mm vs 22, you’re most likely going to get better performance out of most 9mm guns — though the Walther P22 is still a solid choice. The same holds true for the CZ RAMI. Unlike comparable handguns such as the Glock 26 which is made from polymer, the recoil is easily manageable. This is all thanks to the extra weight that an all-metal frame provides. The smaller-than-usual grip was also a non-factor. I find that it can easily shoot 2-inch groups at 7-8 yards and about 7-inch groups at 25. All-in-all the best thing about the RAMI given its small size is its heft and ergonomics.

Reliability for Concealed Carry

Designed specifically to be a concealed carry firearm, the CZ 2075 RAMI excels in it. It can easily fit in your front pocket and would easily disappear in your belt line. It’s a bit chunky though, so it would be best for you to wear something loose or baggy with it. Some reviewers find that the beaver tail at the back of the gun can sometimes catch or dig into the side of your body. It would be best to use a holster with a high inside panel to cushion it. The main drawback of having a firearm as small as this however is the short grip. It can be difficult to unholster the RAMI and get a proper grip, especially in tight situations.

Magazine Inter-compatibility

The magazines of the CZ 2075 RAMI are staggered-column types. This allows magazines to be as short as possible while maximizing round capacity. Being part of the CZ 75 family, the RAMI is compatible with magazines patterned for the CZ 75. This means you can use longer magazines on the RAMI, increasing its round capacity. Some care must be taken though if you wish to go this route as pinching can happen at the mouth of the magazine well. Nevertheless, going for higher round capacity on the RAMI is unnecessary, as its main purpose is to be a concealed carry gun.

CZ 2075 RAMI Vs CZ 2075 RAMI BD: What Are the Differences?

While looking up the CZ 2075 RAMI, you may come across the BD variant that was introduced in 2008. And while creating our CZ 2075 RAMI 40 review we’ve learned that if you’re trying to pick between the RAMI and BD versions of the CZ 2075 – you need to understand the key differences. First of all, the RAMI safety version comes with regular sights that you’d find on most other CZ small arms. The BD decocker variant comes with Meprolight sights so if you’re into those optics then it may be more cost-effective to go with the BD. Of course, one thing we should mention in this Regular vs CZ 2075 RAMI bd review is that the standard RAMI comes in both .40 and 9mm ammo. Meanwhile, the BD version uses only the 9mm rounds. It is sometimes referred to as the CZ RAMI 9mm while the former is called the CZ 2075 RAMI 40 by others.

Decocker

The BD variant replaces the manual safety with a decocking mechanism. This puts the hammer of the RAMI into a half-cock dual action mode. This gives the advantage of being able to shoot the gun after unholstering without having to manually lower a safety. The trigger pull would have to be longer and heavier as well when it is in dual action mode.

Night Sights

The stock low profile dot sights are also replaced with MeProLight night sights. This makes it easier to aim in low light conditions. Considering that home break-ins are likely to happen in the dark of night, these sights are advantageous during home defense.

Conclusion

All and all we can confirm that the CZ 2075 RAMI is an amazing concealed carry gun. Made with high-quality materials and having a great design, this compact CZ handgun packs a lot of punch for its size. If you’re looking for a reliable handgun that’s perfect for self defense – this is the perfect option for you. With that said, we hope our CZ 2075 RAMI review 2023 helps you choose only the best option! So keep in mind these essential tips, and go with whatever works for you!
